By Irfan NugrohoTogether with my three brothers, Wahyu, Vicky, and Khairul, we made a trip to Dieng Plateu, Wonosobo, Central Java. In common, the trip lasts for three to four hours via Boyolali District. We passed through that route, but we needed more than six hours to get to the destination. Why? It was because we followed the route provided by our Global Positioning System (GPS).
It was when we reached a city somewhere in Temanggung, where we should take a right, but the GPS Navigation told us that we have to turn left, that’s the starting point of our tiring trip. We departed at 10:00 AM, and we reached the base camp of Mount Prau at 8:00 PM.
We took a rest at the base camp, with hope to recover the stamina after nearly seven hours of motoring from Sukoharjo District to Wonosobo District. We found a mosque near the base camp and we slept over there and planned to hike Mount Prau at 2:00 AM (because in common it takes about two to three hours to reach the top).
We all had a good sleep at the mosque, but not for me. I couldn’t sleep due to its extreme temperature (some people say the temperature at Dieng Plateu is the most extreme one, compared to other mountainous areas in Indonesia). Unfortunately, I felt asleep at 12 midnight, and we all woke up late, at 3:30 AM.
We rushed to make the way to the top, but local guide restricts us because it’s too late. They suggested us to head to Sikunir, as it can be reached in an hour. Okay! We listen. We moved there, but right on the slope of Mount Sikunir, we made a stop to pray.
The temperature was really extreme, and even though water stock is abundant at the mosque, we didn’t make ablution before prayer. We made tayamum, using dust in exchange to ablution.
Right after praying, we all were ready to get the top. Unfortunately, I needed to poop. Sorry for this, for the readers and for the team especially, because I felt asleep while inside the toilet. Finally, we, sorry, I, made a bit delay, so we rushed once again to get there.
Thanks God, we reached to top right before the sun rose, even though we had to run to hike it. Here I send my apology to one of the team members, Vicky, as he felt a little bit sick that day so he walked very very slowly.
Hundreds of people were there at the top, and indeed, Mount Sikunir is the most favorite destination as a local resident once told us it can be thousands when it goes to New Year’s Eve, or when the Independence of Indonesia.
Included herein are the photos of us. We wish you to get there too… You are cordially invited!

Kupat Tahu Extra Portion. Totally different from what is available in Sukoharjo where Tahu Kupat is only half of this portion |

Truly Indonesia! It feels like we're back to Indonesia 20 years ago when our village has no bridge |
|
But see there, we love the atmosphere. We love that green scenery despite being retarded in infrastructure development |

The saddy face of Vicky. He was sick when we're there |

Do get this wrong. She's not my girl at all. She's just another visitor who want to take photograph with a group of weirdos |
